[ 3-day rental ]

Taylor is all out of options. After years of raising her beloved maternal half brother, her abusive stepfather suddenly demands custody just so he can have an heir. She tells her story to her former boss, Jackson, and he makes a startling proposal: that he and Taylor should get married as soon as possible and apply for custody of her brother. It's true that with the successful, world-famous film producer on her side, her stepfather wouldn’t be able to stand in her way—but why the offer? They were never more than boss and secretary. But Jackson soon explains it to her: "I want you to have my baby within the year."

I really loved how the two completed each in healing and loving. The heroine is currently in a custody battle with her step-father for her half brother because the man is an arrogant prick who suddenly wants his son after spending ten years neglecting him and not even paying his mother child support. The hero is dealing with the aftermath of his wife's suicide and how it not only took her but also their unborn child. The two of them share an attraction for each other that's was lit from the days that they worked together but kept it hidden. When the hero hears of the heroine plight, he offers marriage in order to keep the step-father's grubby hands off the brother and the heroine gives him a child. I love how the little boy and hero connect and form a bond of father and son. The heroine and hero agree on the marriage and through this marriage they learn the positive and the negative parts of their past. The hero is such a gentleman by waiting till the heroine is ready for honeymoon night because of her horrible experience with men and the heroine holds the hero and comforts him when he reveals about his unborn child that nobody knows about. It's just so sweet to see the two, especially when the heroine become pregnant. What is especially sweet is when the hero and heroine tell the little brother and the hero reassures the brother that he is the hero's child and will always love him. My heart nearly broke at that statement, then the tragedy happens; the heroine suffers a miscarriage. The suffering that they faced and comforted each other just made me cry and how they healed from the grief. It was definitely a book to read and hold a tissue for.
