A NIGHT WITH CONSEQUENCES
Kara is just a plain woman who works as a secretary. Her arrogant, powerful, successful boss, Blake, takes her on a business trip to Italy, but to her surprise it ends up being just the two of them! They are booked into the same suite, and she finds an extravagant dress waiting for her in her room! Could he be trying to seduce her? Being raised by an overbearing mother, she grew up learning to supress her feelings. But spending time with Blake, she slowly learns to unlock her heart…and her desires. Even though she knows this is all just playing around for him.

Now, I read this comic and as I read along it doesn't pull me into the story. I mean we have cinderella's plot with the heroine who's being pressured by her "weak" mother to marry a guy of her choosing, a rich guy in order to pay off her father's debts. The heroine, however, the heroine has a sense of self-independence of having other people pay as well as the fact that she doesn't want to marry the guy. The guy also seems to miss the fact that the heroine doesn't want to even date him at all. He even goes as far as to lie about the heroine being his bride. Then there's the hero whom the heroine is wary of because whenever he takes his secretaries on a private business trip, they end up quitting in the end. The heroine doesn't want that because she needs the wage to pay off. However, the hero is the only person who can see the truth of the heroine's life: controlled by a dominating, abusive hag of a mother (when the heroine said no to the marrying the guy again, the woman hit her across the cheek with her cane. Then when the hero offered the woman money on the condition of she hands the heroine over to the hero. What is the heroine, a pet??), a traumatic past with an abusive father has well, and suffers from what seems to be a childhood trauma or what some websites call a personality disorder. The heroine has feelings that have separated into separate beings. Now, the hero supports and helps her work through it, something I found to be very sweet that I gave the review an extra star. In the end, the heroine is able to bring her two beings to intertwine within herself and knows who she knows and that she loves the hero. The hero asks her to marry him and she accepts. It's all a happy ending but for some reason, I just couldn't get into it.
