mother knows best 4  4

The hero's mother from a previous novel has decided to give her son a kick back into living by sending him a cleaner to fix up his house for the price of him fixing up the cleaner's house. When he meets the pleasant and happy heroine, who makes him smile on the first day with her funny comment. I liked the heroine for she's a woman who takes life by the wheel because she moves out of her family's home when her dad gives her the ultimatum of not supporting her unless she marries his prickly protege but the heroine won't have it and despite having an education to be a pianist, she settles for a cleaning job. The hero is stuck in a rut since his plane accident that destroyed his career of being a fighter pilot. He doesn't know what to do with himself and has become quite the porcupine. Luckily, for him, the heroine has thick skin and makes an impression on him. As they fix each other's houses, they become quite attracted to each other. I liked reading how they interacted, cleaned, and redecorated together. The heroine helps the hero find a new passion and a new job to pursue and the hero becomes the heroine's ally when her father and groom candidate come rolling in to force her back home. One of the best scenes for me was when the candidate insulted the hero, the heroine gave him a straight shot to the jaw. The guy almost hits the heroine but the hero stops him. His actions prove to the heroine's parents that he's not what he appears to be. The parents and candidate leave and the hero and heroine confess their love for each other. I really liked reading the entire harlequin and I definitely recommend it to rent.
