About the Author
Carol Marinelli recently filled in a form asking for her job title. Thrilled to be able to put down her answer, she put writer. Then it asked what Carol did for relaxation and she put down the truth - writing. The third question asked for her hobbies. Well, not wanting to look obsessed she crossed the fingers on her hand and answered swimming but, given that the chlorine in the pool does terrible things to her highlights – I’m sure you can guess the real answer.

There was some hard parts to this harlequin comic. The hero and heroine meet by chance and after seeing how the heroine's brother tore up her place to find some jewelry to pawn off so he could go back to gambling to numb his pain from his fiancee leaving him before the altar. One thing leads to another and they spend the night together and the hero goes off because he didn't wear protection, so the heroine must be pregnant. It's only one day after coitus and you don't know if you're pregnant till two weeks after conception but the hero skips way too many steps by kidnapping the heroine and taking her back to his home country without any confirmation. Then there's my problem with the father who all about tradition and if you don't do things the right way then bad things will happen. Example: after the hero's mother gave birth to him, she was getting thinner and weaker, so the father went against tradition and took her out of the country to an English doctor. She died in the end and the father took it as a warning sign for breaking with the tradition. I'm not going to judge one's country customs and traditions but it's so obvious the hero's mother was suffering from depression that caused her decline. This was a woman who lived her life in the desert before she married the hero's father and came into the city, meaning she was a country girl then went to live in the city with the it's stone walls and no desert hills. So, she had a hard time adapting to this lifestyle. After she became pregnant, the father stopped seeing her because it was tradition for a good reason but it went the wrong way and she was alone in a world with walls with only her child grown inside of her. Sadly, another tradition arose of how the baby was to be raised without the mother being in its life. So, imagine going from one world to the next, all alone with no one to talk to, and being unable to see the people you love. It's no wonder the hero's mother died so quickly. Everyone thinks the heroine is pregnant with keeping her confined to bed and drinking nutritious drinks. Yet, she doesn't take well to the hero's "harem" and I do like how she makes her demands with the hero being abstinent and spending time with her. He complies for the heroine but it goes south one night. Then the heroine gets her period, the hero goes out of the country to a funeral, and the heroine is nearly kicked out of the palace. However, she sneaks into the harem and hides there because it's the only place the guards can't get in. She spends time with the girls and realizes they're women who are hiding from bad marriages, poverty, and some are even getting their college. After the hero comes back, women are sent to him one by one but are sent back with frowns one by one. When it's the heroine's turn, she goes to the hero's room and hears the hero state that his heart belongs to another. She realizes that it's her that holds his heart and goes after the hero who is surprised to find the heroine at his bedside. They reconcile and open up their feelings to each other. They get married and have a cute little baby in the end.
