The hero and heroine distant acquaintances who meet through the hero’s best friend that was marrying the heroine’s half-sister from a the previous, “ “. The hero almost seduced her to his bedroom but the sight of naked twins had the heroine scurrying away. They don’t see each other for 2 years till the hero get word that the heroine is visiting his mentor, benefactor, and godfather on a private matter. Not even the godfather is disclosing the information to him. This leads him to suspect the worse: thee heroine is a gold digger. The truth couldn’t be further because after the heroine got her medical license and needed a vacation thanks to a terminally ill patient’s greedy relatives who were ticked that she got named in the will. Yes, it’s terrible for strangers to spend time with dying patients when family doesn’t. Her deceased mother leaves her a clue as to who’s her father, which could be one of two men: the godfather or his dead brother. It turns out the mother was a nanny who was two-timing the brother who she was engaged to with the godfather who was married at the time. It’s why he never married her and she never got married to the brother. The hero comes in with accusations like the ill patient’s relatives or using the godfather to see him(man’s got a lot of confidence about himself). Next, the heroine meets with the godfather and they go over what to do, they arrange a DNA test. During the wait, the hero and heroine converse within an adult manner. Clear up a couple of issues like the hero’s twins are really college colleagues who pranked the hero as a means of revenge for not dating either of them. It leads to a one-night stand without protection. Then the DNA test reveals the heroine is in fact the godfather’s daughter and she takes time alone when her father advises her not to get close to the hero. The father tells the hero who dashes after the heroine. He persuades her to marry him because she might be pregnant but they don’t affirm it at all. Instead of waiting 2 weeks, the hero rather jump headfirst into marriage then divorce later if it turns out the heroine isn’t pregnant. The man has obviously never read the proceedings for the divorces. In a few short pages we learn the hero has an inferior complex stemming from being abandoned in a box as a baby that he even refused to be adopted by the godfather. Then the whole mishap where he had a fiancée who cheated on him with a wealthy man. That started his whole playboy persona. She still marries him but there’s a misunderstanding when the ex-fiancee shows up. The heroine thinks the hero still loves her and goes back. The hero goes after and reveals he didn’t love the ex-fiancee. He truly loves the heroine and she accepts his love. In the end, they’re making plans to build a hospital and give their newborn daughter some more siblings. The ending scene was quite sweet.
